I SHALL NOT WANT
Psalm 23:1 (KJV) says, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
The concept of the Lord being a shepherd is deeply rooted in the Judeo-Christian tradition, symbolizing care, guidance, and protection. When we say the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want, we are acknowledging that God's supply is greater than our needs. This declaration invites us to trust in God's ability to meet our every need, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual.
This profound statement by King David, challenges us to surrender our worries and fears about lack or inadequacy and instead embrace a mindset of abundance. It reminds us that through faith and obedience in God as our shepherd, we can find true contentment and fulfillment. The assurance that comes with recognizing God as our guide provides a sense of peace and security in navigating life's uncertainties.
Brothers and sisters there is one thing I never could understand that some church folks would do. They would recite the 23rd Psalm and say, "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want." But at the same time, they would say, "Money is evil." But I always wondered if money is evil, why do they scrape and scratch so hard to get money if it's so evil? Why do they get up so early and work so late? Many of them thought then and even today that I’m crazy. But I believe that, he who serves the Lord should have overflowing abundance. Psalms 23:5-6 says, "My cup runneth over." To me that means, "My life overflows with every kind of good."
